History

Molitor Sport Wengen has a history of more than 100 years: from Fritz Molitor, to the record winner on the Lauberhorn Karl Molitor, to the current owners Beat and Elisabeth von Allmen.

1915

Fritz Molitor opens a shoemaker’s shop, as many French soldiers depend on good footwear. After the troops withdrew, two shoemakers worked under Fritz Molitor. Mountaineering boots, sports shoes and made-to-measure shoes are produced.

1922

Karl Molitor’s parents opened another restaurant in Mürren, but it had to be given up again just 3 years later. The constant back and forth was just too cumbersome.

1948

Karl Molitor ends his career in ski racing after winning the silver (combined) and bronze (downhill) medals at the Olympic Games in St. Moritz.

In the same year, he married Antoinette Meyer. “It’s a beautiful, big wedding celebration,” says Karl Molitor.

1950

The race management of the legendary Lauberhorn race is taken over by Karl Molitor. He mastered this task for 42 years.

1965

Conclusion of a licensing agreement with Byson in Nara (Japan) so that Molitor can manufacture the legendary ski boots with buckle pull under its own name.

2012

Beat and Elisabeth von Allmen (long-time employees) take over Molitor Sport Wengen.

Today
